Twitter will now allow people to tip with Bitcoin

Twitter will now allow its users to tip their favourite  content writers with bitcoin cryptocurrency and will also create a fund  to pay users who host audio chat-rooms on its Spaces, the company said on 23rd September.

The company also announced it will test some new ways to help people have a safer and smoother experience on Twitter platform.

These announcements are the latest from Twitter to compete with its rival platforms like Facebook and YouTube who are already dominating in the field of content creation with innovative ideas and user base.

Twitter to allow bitcoin tipping

Twitter introduced tipping as a test feature in May 2021 as a way to help creators earn income from their followers for the information they share on Twitter. The company said that its tipping feature will now available globally to all iOS users and will become available for Android users in the coming month.

Previously, people could tip with fiat currency like US dollar using a traditional payment services such as Square's Cash-app and PayPal's Venmo. Twitter has plans to integrate the Strike bitcoin wallet service so creators can receive bitcoin tips without any hassle. The company will also allow users to add their bitcoin wallet address to send and receive cryptocurrency tips.

CEO of Twitter, Mr. Jack Dorsey, is one among the biggest believer in the digital asset. He has been vocal about his commitment and support to bitcoin both through his Twitter handle and in public shows. In August, Jack announced his plans to build an decentralized crypto exchange for bitcoin through his new business venture.

As for NFTs, Twitter said it is looking into to ensure the authenticity of the art-works showcased. It still has no plans but said it is currently exploring different ideas.
